About Hokkaido Automobile College


Hokkaido Automobile College has two departments: the two-year Automobile Service Department, where students aim to acquire grade 2 automobile mechanics licenses, and the higher-level Grade 1 Automobile Service Department. The latter is the first college in Hokkaido where students aspire to acquire grade 1 automobile mechanic certification in four years. In an effort to turn out service engineers armed with state-of-the-art technologies and the expertise to support a car-oriented society and meet current industry needs, we are stepping up our efforts to improve the character of students by basing all education on our school motto.

Grade 1 Automobile Service Department
The prefecture's only department where students aim to acquire grade 1 automobile mechanic certification in four years has outstanding facilities, allowing those enrolled to acquire the advanced knowledge and skills to support life in the cutting-edge world of cars.
The high-level teaching staff includes certified grade-1 automobile instructors (for small-sized vehicles), representing first-rate trained mechanics to help shape the times.

Automobile Service Department
The school, which also serves as a maintenance shop authorized by the national government, attaches importance to advanced practical training such as car inspection and maintenance using real vehicles and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). Students learn about automobiles not only in the classroom but also in a hands-on environment.
Those enrolled are encouraged to acquire grade 2 automobile mechanics licenses (national certification) and a range of other qualifications for their future careers to prepare them as engineers who are ready to work professionally on day one at their workplace.

On-campus practical training
Maintenance shop equipped with up-to-date equipment
Students receive practical training at a maintenance shop with up-to-date equipment. Since our practical training building has been authorized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, students use vehicles that are actually in use in car inspection and maintenance lessons.

Lineup of various manufacturers' engines
Special engines such as horizontally opposed models and new types of rotary engine, as well as engines representative of various manufacturers, are used for practical training.

Maintenance machinery and equipment actually used at maintenance shops enables students to acquire the levels of skill required at maintenance shops.

Students gain specific know-how from professional mechanics at the forefront of various businesses' maintenance shops.
